Seattle U Gives, the university’s annual day of giving, funds essential programs, scholarships and more, all benefiting students.

For the second consecutive year, the Seattle University community has come together to reach an ambitious goal—raising more than $1 million during Seattle U Gives. The generosity of the Redhawk community during this 24-hour day of giving funds essential programs, scholarships, athletics and more, all of which contribute to the distinctive Seattle University education experience.

With 2,485 donors supporting more than 100 funds, Seattle U Gives shows the breadth of the commitment of our alumni, students, faculty, staff, parents and friends to empowering the next generation of leaders. From education abroad programs to sports teams to campus ministry, our community turned out in a big way. Here are just a few areas of impact from the day:

  • In support of the Annual Scholarship Fund $30,000 was raised, which ensures that a high-caliber education remains accessible to deserving students by keeping college affordable and providing financial aid to those who need it most. The ability to offer generous financial aid packages helps SU attract the kind of students we are known for—capable and committed to making a difference in their professions and communities.
  • Other funds, such as the Housing and Residence Life Student Leadership Fund, directly enhance campus life. Established by a group of alumni who were previously residence assistants themselves, this fund empowers student leaders who foster safe, inclusive environments for their peers. Thanks to funds raised through Seattle U Gives, essential student leaders on campus will receive support through professional development, scholarships and self-care/wellness options.
  • Seattle U Gives donors were also able to directly support the university’s commitment to academic excellence, helping to advance faculty scholarship, teaching innovation and student success. Contributions to the Provost’s Fund for Faculty Excellence, for example, provides essential funding to the Provost Fellows, a group of faculty reimagining academic programs to better prepare students to meet the greatest challenges that lie ahead, including sustainability and climate change, racial injustice and widening economic inequity and rapid technological change.

“Seattle U Gives showcases the incredible impact the Redhawk community can make when we come together to support the causes we care about most,” says Vice President of University Advancement Edgar Gonzalez. “We are grateful to have such an engaged community invested in the success of Seattle University as an institution and in the experience of current and future students.”
